Then Nature’s Basket was born…

Food has always been my love language. I love cooking for other people bringing them happiness through the food that I create. When my partner had developed severe food allergies, I had to watch him go without his favourites and I couldn’t stand there and accept it. I made it my mission to experiment and develop recipes that he could eat.

Portion control isn’t in my vocabulary, so with all the extra baked goods I had on my hands I gave them out to family and friends to try and they loved them. After talking to other people within our community about his allergies and my baked goods I had more people reach out to me and asked if I could bake for them. It was then and there I realised how many other people were also affected with various food sensitivities and were struggling to find food that was safe and delicious!

Here at Nature’s Basket we have made it our mission that you no longer need to go without your favourites. With a combination of high quality ingredients and high standards, you and your loved ones no longer have to miss out.

As always, our products are 100% free from gluten, eggs, nuts, dairy, soy, sesame and sulphite products. No animal products are used in our baked goods, we keep our furry and fluffy friends outside of the kitchen.
Made in a vegan and coeliac friendly kitchen.

Behind the cakes…

Hi there! I’m Yassmin, the baker, the owner, the social media manager, and a full time mum.
Thank you so much for swinging by and having a good ol’ read about my baking business

It all started when I was 5 (maybe?) when I baked my very first cake in these tiny cake tins that tasted horrible, but my loving family told me that they were great! What a great confidence boost, creating a passion for baking that continued through out High School and for another further 10 years in the Hospitality world.

I was incredibly fortunate to be able to work alongside 3 talented chefs at my first cafe job, Signature: A Fusion of Coffee, where we all still remain good friends to this day. It was the introduction I didn’t know I would fall in love with and provide me with everlasting skills and knowledge. I then later on spent time working in kitchens around Adelaide and finally managing a very busy cafe in Mitcham.

I took a break and chose to leave the hospo chaos where both my partner and I studied full time, Conservation & Land Management. Creating environmentally friendly choices is a lifestyle for us and I want that to reflect in the business as well.

Passion beyond cake…

One thing you won’t find here is Green Washing. There is far more to making Eco-friendly choices other than compostable packaging. Whilst that is absolutely fantastic, there’s a lot of waste that happens in this industry unfortunately. That is why we do our best to not just only just use compostable disposables, we also love silicone baking mats, purchasing in bulk and sourcing local ingredients.

As an avid gardener, there is no waste with our scraps! They go straight to our own compost, worm farm or the neighbour’s chooks.

We firmly believe that all of these small changes can have a great impact. Nature’s Basket is also a Plastic Free SA Member, we have been awarded mutiple certificates to showcase our environmental efforts in the Food Service industry.
